Senior Data Analyst/Modeller (Diffuse Pollution) SEPA

Dr. Jonathan Bowes is employed in the Environmental Assessment Unit of Scotland's environmental regulator, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). He has 16 years experience working with GIS in environmental systems as a Senior Data Analyst/Modeller and is currently focusing on a nationwide project to assess and mitigate diffuse pollution issues. In the last 18 months he has been introducing SEPA to new ways of capturing environmental data in an attempt to change mindsets and remove paper from the field.

Jonathan will speak about an ongoing project where the Algiz 7 is being used to do field surveys of river catchments. He will also discuss the results from a study showing that electronic field data collection on rugged devices would result in significant time savings.

Prior to founding Handheld Jerker worked for Husky Computers Ltd. as Manager for Scandinavia Markets. Before joining Husky Computers Ltd. he held a position as Product Manager with Dataloggers AB. Jerker´s educational background is in Engineering and Computer Science.

Most recently Mike was employed by Merix Corporation, a global leader in the manufacturing of printed circuit boards, as Vice President of Marketing. Mike has also direct industry experience from his previous role as Director of Sales & Marketing at Tripod Data Systems. Mike holds a Masters degree from Penn State and a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from John Hopkins University.
